About IELTS
International English Language Testing System
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is designed to assess the language ability of candidates who need to study or work where English is the language of communication. IELTS is recognized by over 10,000 organizations worldwide, including universities, employers, professional bodies, immigration authorities, and other government agencies.
There are two types of IELTS tests:
- IELTS Academic - For people applying for higher education or professional registration in an English-speaking environment.
- IELTS General Training - For those migrating to Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK, or the USA, or applying for secondary education, training programs, or work experience in an English-speaking environment.
IELTS scores are reported on a 9-band scale, with each band corresponding to a specified competence in English. Overall Band Scores are reported to the nearest half band.
